Tokens & Fares for
Pelena Express

token prices:-
$10 per 5 kilometres
(Solomon Island Dollars), 1 token is valid for 5 kilometres travel.

Pelena Express uses 'tokens' instead of tickets
for journeys on the boat.

Each token is worth a certain distance of
travel on the Pelena Express boat - 5km. So you may need to use a few tokens
for a single journey depending on the length of the journey.

Tokens are
ideally purchased in advance and in bulk.

We recommend that Pelena Tokens be purchased from outlets in towns, such as shops and stores. These stores will
display a sign indicating 'Pelena Express Tokens on
Sale Here'.

Tokens may be purchased onboard the boats but this
will be an expensive way to buy them compared to purchasing them in
advance at a store.

Tokens can be purchased individually or in books
so that you will always have a token ready when you need it, this is
cheaper than purchasing the tokens onboard the vessel.

Tokens can also be purchased in Australia
through contacting Pelena Energy
(www.pelena.com.au).
Pelena Express can sell bulk books of Pelena Express Tokens
(ie more than 200 tokens) but only through prior arrangement with
Pelena
Express management. Such sales are not permitted on the vessel to
minimise cash onboard.

The number of tokens you require depends on how far, or
what distance you will travel. use our
token calculator (below) to figure out how many tokens you will need for a specific
journey.
One of these should be issued to you when you buy a book of tokens for
use on the Pelena Express vessel.

The
timetable also shows how
many tokens are required to travel between regular villages or
towns. In general, one Pelena Token is required for each 5km of
distance travelled. The Pelena Crew are responsible for
determining how many tokens are required to travel between two
locations.
